Comparison and Reflection on the Professional Identity of Cross-Strait Social Work Undergraduates: An empirical study based on Minzu University of China and Z University in Chinese Taipei

Abstract: A survey had been done among social work undergraduates in Minzu University of China and Z University in Taiwan. With Professional Identity Scale and Professional Scene Scale, social work undergraduates' professional identity is measured from the four aspects of appropriate identity, cognitive identity, behavior identity and emotional identity, and students' professional scene from the four aspects of professional prospects, professional value, learning environment and training target. The survey data show:(1) There are significant differences in professional prospect and professional value in professional scene among cross-strait social work undergraduates; (2) As for Professional Identity, there are significant differences only in professional cognition identity; (3) Compared with students from the mainland, those from Taiwan are more likely to be affected by professional situations in professional identity; (4) The most important factor which can influence students' professional identity is professional value.
