On the Conceptual Conflicts and Achievement of Social Consensus in Contemporary China’s Charity——An Analysis of the Chen Guangbiao Case

Abstract: Based on a study of Chen Guangbiao case, this paper analyses the conflicts in the motivations and manners of the contemporary China’s charity and attributes them to the conflicts between traditional charity ideas, charity ideas in the planning economy period and western charity ideas. It ends with the suggestion that more fund should be pushed into the field of charity, the way of enlisting social reputation by reasonable means of charity should be recognized, advocates the acknowledgement of the social reputation for charity, and further explorations should be made to increase the variety of charity.
