Problems and Solutions for Family Guardianship of Disadvantaged Children: Based on the Survey in City J

Abstract: Family guardianship plays an essential role in children’s growth, as sound family supervision implies guarantee for the development of children in difficulties. The paper adopts a mixed research method to investigate the status and dilemma of family guardianship for children in distress and to analyze the underlying influential factors.It finds such problems as a lack of guardianship consciousness, abilities and relevant support systems. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the guardianship awareness and abilities of family guardians of children in distress, and construct a “home-school-community” cooperative guardianship system. Only in this way can we optimize the care and protection for children in distress and promote their development.
