Abstract: The ecological progress of energy relies not merely on government functions and responsibility of energy companies, but also on public participation. Based on the situation at home and abroad, this paper makes a preliminary study of the role of public participation in the ecological progress of energy, and analyzes the internal needs of the sociality of energy environment and the method of improving the government’s decisionmaking quality in legitimatizing the public participation in the ecological progress of energy. Then it summarizes the basic patterns of public participation in the ecological progress of energy, makes a more comprehensive analysis of the participation path, and puts forward some countermeasures.
