Abstract: Abstract: Social work is a specialty that emphasizes “helping people by teaching them to help themselves”. Therefore, social work intervention in the rural institutional oldage care has a profound influence on innovating social management of the elderly, improving oldage service quality and promoting the elderly’s sense of satisfaction. From the perspective of social work, this paper conducts a questionnaire and indepth interview of 14 rural seniors’ homes in Suxian District, Chenzhou. It is found that, to some degree, there is an imbalance between the diversified needs of the elderly in the rural seniors’ homes and the services provided. In view of the problem, we study the approaches for social work to intervene in the rural institutional oldage care by indirectly linking resources and renewing the idea, and at the same time, by directly improving the quality of rural institutional oldage care from the case work, group work and community work.
