Optimizing the Support System for Rural Leftbehind Elderly

Abstract:  Aging of the rural population is becoming increasingly serious and a large number of young adults move into the city, which challenge the existing formal and informal rural support system for the aged and exacerbate the problems of the rural leftbehind elderly in terms of the economic support, life care and spiritual comfort. In order to improve the quality of life for the rural leftbehind elderly, we should adhere to ‘communityfamily pension mode’ which is homebased and communitydependent; let the pension institutions play the leading role;and at the same time,further improve the rural social insurance and social assistance system;introduce professional talents to improve the quality of pension service.
