Abstract: Social Work is not only a branch of science, but also an art. In the process of helping people, social workers need to have interests in understanding people with different life experience, having empathy and finding out their meaning, which shows the artistic aspect of social work. Therefore, social work education should allocate a share to art education to break through the limit of emphasizing "techno- rationality" paradigm in traditional social work education and avoid neglecting difference of experience because of ossified "political correctness" in social work education. It will also promote teachers and students to review educational activities with critical and reflexive attitude, and create conditions of equal dialogue. Course Advanced Social Work Practice in X university in Taiwan, China integrated practical techniques of arts and used "Playback Theatre", "Forum Theatre", "painting" and other art forms to gain experience in exploring application of arts to social work education. This course has also further explored the meaning of artistic practice in social work education in reforming relationship between teachers and students and made a point that social work education should develop as study about society with mutual experience of teachers and students.
