A Breif Review and Reflection on Women Social Work of Lei Jieqiong

Abstract: Lei Jieqiong was a pioneers in Chinese social work. Through training and organizing women in the rural areas to participate in the anti-Japanese war from 1937 to 1941, Lei jieqiong had gone deep into the grassroots in Jiangxi. During the period of training the rural women, she put forward the ideas of organizing the women movement, cultivating women cadres, promoting collective life and democratic participation, paying attention to the awakening of women consciousness, advocating equality, freedom of thought and the concept of human-orientation. A series of ideas proposed by her have great implications for us, especially when facing the current rural women social work, so as to solve problems among rural women and promote their development.
