Analysis of the Current Situation and Development of Social Work in Social Enterprise Operations: Take Chengdu’s Practice as an Example

Abstract: With the development of social enterprises in China, there has been a growing intersection between social work and social enterprises. Social work is now seeking to integrate into social enterprises from multiple angles, such as conceptual values, organizational structure, social workers, social work methods, and related resources. Such integration is beneficial to the diversified development for both social work and social enterprises. However, this process faces several challenges, and the current situation of integrating social work into social enterprise operations is less than ideal. This is primarily due to factors such as the attitudes of organizational decision-makers, the need of balance between the “society” and “market” aspects of social enterprises, and the operational status of these organizations. To further promote the integration of social work into the practice of social enterprises, it is necessary to reinforce support and regulations from the government, strategically plan the participation of social work in their operations, and underscore the commitment of social work organizations to professionalism.
