    SUN Xiaoming, Linda Neuhauser
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 1-8.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (604KB) ( 133 )
Large-scale population migration has become a defining characteristics of China’s population development. This has led to complex challenges in social integration for migrant workers, requiring both theoretical guidance and practical innovation. Based on the authors’ long-term technical support and follow-up evaluations for Changzhou Wellness Project, this study has drawn its conclusions on both academic and practical levels from a participatory approach and a transdisciplinary framework. Empirical research in Changzhou has shown that the local government has established a multi-sectoral cooperative social support system for migrant workers through transdisciplinary thinking and highly participatory operation with social partners. As a result, policies for migrant workers have been improved, leading to enhanced health status and social adaptability among migrant workers. This has also offered migrant workers with better access to civic services and integration into society.

Analysis of the Current Situation and Development of Social Work in Social Enterprise Operations: Take Chengdu’s Practice as an Example
    WU Jing
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 9-19.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (844KB) ( 113 )
With the development of social enterprises in China, there has been a growing intersection between social work and social enterprises. Social work is now seeking to integrate into social enterprises from multiple angles, such as conceptual values, organizational structure, social workers, social work methods, and related resources. Such integration is beneficial to the diversified development for both social work and social enterprises. However, this process faces several challenges, and the current situation of integrating social work into social enterprise operations is less than ideal. This is primarily due to factors such as the attitudes of organizational decision-makers, the need of balance between the “society” and “market” aspects of social enterprises, and the operational status of these organizations. To further promote the integration of social work into the practice of social enterprises, it is necessary to reinforce support and regulations from the government, strategically plan the participation of social work in their operations, and underscore the commitment of social work organizations to professionalism.

Environment-Interest-Learning: Mechanism Analysis of Co-Evolution in the Interaction Process of Government and Society: Take the Interaction Between D Social Work Station and Grassroots Government Departments as an Example
    ZHENG Xianling
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 20-30.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (819KB) ( 113 )
This article introduces the concept of “co-evolution” to view the “bidirectional movement” and “bidirectional optimization” in government-social interaction from a more comprehensive perspective, and built a framework of “environment-interest-learning” to analysis it. The article presents the co-evolution process between D social work station and town government from three horizontal aspects: cognitive mutual construction, knowledge mutual learning, and service reconstruction. The “bidirectional movement” of government and society is manifested as the government’s administrative intervention, service increment and absorption of social organizations, as well as the “self protection movement” launched by social organizations. “Bidirectional optimization” manifests as the improvement of the situational ability of social organizations to promote professional services and the ability to carry out “self protection movement”, as well as the improvement of the quality of grassroots collaborative governance by government departments. The mechanism of governmental and social collaborative evolution includes environmental mechanisms, interest mechanisms, and learning mechanisms. The environmental mechanism refers to the collaborative governance pattern constructed by national and local governments, which provides favorable institutional conditions for the co-evolution of government and society. The interest mechanism refers to the traction of conflicting interests between government and society on “bidirectional movement”, the restraint of common interests and inclusive interests on “bidirectional movement”, and the traction of inclusive interests on “bidirectional optimization”. The learning mechanism refers to the adaptive feature adjustment caused by the learning actions of both governmental and social parties.

    SUN Wanghui, LUO Mingjun
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 41-51.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (1129KB) ( 98 )
Medical fear is common among children undergoing diagnosis and treatment., Such fear may lead to children avoiding or delaying medical treatment. This study investigates the feasibility of a combined model of reading therapy and play therapy in alleviating children’s fear of medical treatment, based on the theory of cognitive behavioral therapy. to the aim is to construct an effective service program for social work intervention in children’s medical fear. Adopting a quasi-experimental design, eighteen children out of 120 respondents in X Hospital of Yunnan Province have been selected by a mixed research method and randomly divided into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group receives the “reading + game” therapy group intervention, while the control group doesn’t receive any intervention. Before the intervention, there has been no statistical significance in the degree of medical fear, age, gender, education level, and age of the children in the two groups. After the intervention, the scores of the intervention group is significantly lower than those of the control group, indicating that The “reading+game” therapy is effective in reducing medical care. Therefore, based on the theory of cognitive-behavioral therapy, “reading + game” therapy can effectively alleviate children’s fear of medical treatment and improve children’s adherence to treatment. The “reading+game” therapy is an enjoyable and relatively easy to alleviate children’s medical fear. However, “reading+game” therapy should be closely combined with other therapeutic methods and professional guidance for comprehensive intervention. The intervention measures should also be evaluated and adjusted according to the individual situation.

A Study on Multi-Family Group Work Intervention for Adolescent Mobile Phone Dependence
    HE Xinru, HUANG Dan
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 52-62.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (891KB) ( 137 )
Unreasonable use of mobile phones can easily lead to adolescent phone dependence, which in turn has adverse effects on their physical and mental health, academic performance, and socialization. Existing research indicates that individual psychological needs satisfaction, parental parenting abilities, and parent-child relationships are important factors affecting adolescent mobile phone dependence. Based on this, a multifamily group work method was adopted to intervene in adolescents and their parents who have a tendency to rely on mobile phones, and the intervention effect was measured through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. The research findings indicate that the service recipients of the quasi-experimental intervention group have significantly improved compared to the control group: the psychological needs of adolescents have been met to a certain extent, the parenting ability of parents has also been improved, and the parent-child relationship between the two parties is more harmonious. At the same time, the use of mobile phones by adolescents has been reduced, and their dependence on mobile phones has been significantly reduced. It can be seen that the multi-family group work intervention targeting adolescent mobile phone dependence has achieved short-term positive results.

Mental Health Risk Probe and Governance Strategies Based on Hotline Data: A Large Sample Survey from Guangdong 12355 Psychological Hotline
    LI Ling’ou
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 63-75.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (885KB) ( 84 )
This study analyzes a 40,000 sample of primary and secondary school students from the extensive data from 12355 psychological hotline in Guangdong Province. Adopting one-way ANOVA and Chi-square test, the study has demonstrated the differences and platform response mechanisms of the three types of psychological help. Additionally, it has built a multi-factor Logistic regression model and a risk prediction model on the influencing factors of students’ mental health levels.. The results show that most students have good mental health, while a proportion of them have psychological disorders and high risk. There is a correlation between the variables of hotline data and mental health. It is found that individual, family and environmental factors all significantly affect students’ mental health. The risk prediction model effectively predicts the mental health level of students, and it identifies that primary school students and dropouts have a higher incidence of psychological problems. Academic pressure is the main cause of triggering problems. Furthermore, the study observes gender differences in different dimensions of students’ mental health. The study has noted a rising demand for psychological counseling with insufficient resources to meet such demand. The study has also found that hotline calls follow a periodic time distribution. Based on these findings, the study suggests establishing a provincial mental health database and an early warning mechanism to improve student mental health services. Data governance should also be improved to enhance the efficiency of hotline psychological services. More resources should be allocated to underdeveloped areas to narrow the urban-rural divide.

Relative Poverty Among Women in China from the Perspective of Common Prosperity: Current Situation, Causes and Governance
    ZHU Meng
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 76-85.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (822KB) ( 86 )
In China, absolute poverty among women has been eradicated in our country, relative poverty among women is a new theoretical and practical proposition. Integrating the theories of common prosperity and relative poverty, this study establishes a four-dimensional analytical framework for the governance of women’s relative poverty that encompasses “income-welfare-assets-development”. We have also conducted examination of the current situation and formation mechanism of women’s relative poverty in China, followed by proposing governance strategies. Our research reveals that women’s relative poverty is manifested by overall lower occupational incomes for women compared to men, insufficient access to social security, inadequate asset building, and narrower development pathways than men. The basic mechanisms contributing to the formation of women’s relative poverty are identified as “gender culture-gender order-function assurance-gender division of labor.” Based on this, three specific paths for governing women’s relative poverty are proposed: First, fostering an inclusive gender culture; Second, shaping a gender-fair livelihood security mechanism; Third, promoting the participation of diverse stakeholders to form a collaborative governance force.

Can Digital Inclusive Finance Narrow Gender Disparities in Educational Attainment
LI Jingrui, LI Shanshan, LIU Jiayu
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2024, 24 (4): 86-98.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (1249KB) ( 73 )
Based on the panel data of 31 provinces and cities in China from 2011 to 2022, this paper explores the impact of digital inclusive finance on gender differences in educational attainment. The results show that digital inclusive finance can significantly narrow the gender difference in educational attainment. However, the depth of usage, breadth of coverage and degree of digitization of digital inclusive finance have decreasing effects on narrowing the gender difference in educational attainment. Digital inclusive finance significantly reduces gender differences in average years of schooling by increasing women’s educational expectations to a greater extent. This effect is more pronounced in underdeveloped regions with lower per capita income levels and has been strengthened since the introduction of G20 High-level Principles on Digital Financial Inclusion. Regarding education stage, digital inclusive finance narrows the gender difference at the high school and college stage, while has no significant influence on levels of middle school and below. In terms of regional differences, the effect of digital inclusive finance on narrowing gender differences in educational attainment is more obvious in regions with lower per capita income, lower human capital accumulation, lower public education expenditure, and lower urbanization levels.
