Abstract: The revival of spirituality and religious issues in the western social work has a direct relationship with the structural changes in the reality of contemporary society. As an important shift in contemporary social work development, the spiritual sensitivitybased social work integrates a broader range of issues such as religion, spirituality, mainstream values, and nonreligious identity and expression, and has undergone the stages of religious domination, secularization, specialization and interdisciplinary integration in terms of social work theory, methods, and practical areas. With the accelerated development of globalization, the spiritual sensitivitybased social work has established links to the more critical issues of social work globalization such as localization issues and globalized social work, which needs systematic attention.

Key words: spiritual sensitivity based social work, western social work, spirituality, religion
