English Translation and Dissemination of Deng's Works in the West in the Perspective of Translation Typology

Abstract: Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping is a classical work that has political and social significance. As a kind of authoritative statements, its discourse has very special expressive function. Thus a strategy mixing semantic translation and communicative translation may contribute the acceptance and dissemination of English version of Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping in the West. This paper starts from the perspective of semantic translation and communicative translation to discuss problems in the English translation of Deng's Works along with the influence that these translation strategies exert on the dissemination of the English translation.
