Abstract: Against the background of widespread discussion on rural revitalization, this paper presents a re-examination of the asset-based theory of community development. Instead of focusing solely on analyzing the content of this theory, the paper demonstrates a different perspective to reflect on it, namely, putting the asset-based community development theory in the context of free market economy globalization for further discussion. Firstly, it examines the correspondence between the theory of agricultural production and development in economic globalization and this theory; secondly, it analyses the criticisms of the theory by the anti-liberal economists; finally, it puts forward the reflection on the theory in terms of rural revitalization. China's rural revitalization may tell a story of socialist values when we reexamine the theory from the very point of view.

Key words: asset-based community development, free economic globalization, agricultural development theory, agricultural production theory
