From Passivity to Initiative: Resilience Construction for Child-Bereft Elderly to Cope with Pension Risk

Abstract: Senior citizens that became child-bereft elderly because of the family planning policy will be the special predicament in the aging society in our country. Child-bereft elderly population will face double pension risks, both from the macro and micro level. From the perspective of building resilience for the child-bereft elderly and based on the interaction analysis framework of pension risk and protection factors, the study found that child-bereft elderly mainly faced the risk of physical and mental disorders, hardship, system lag and cultural limit. Measures were taken from the perspective of mutual empowerment, advantage building, reasonable empowerment and meaning construction to enhance the resilience of the loss alone elderly, thus generating a pension protection mechanism with the quality of prevention, support, protection and fusion.
