Research on the Practice Mode of Child-Friendly Community Revitalization from the Perspective of Field Theory: A Case Study of the Children’s Service Project of J Community
YUAN Xiaowei, JIANG Menghuan
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 15-24.
Abstract1254)      PDF(pc) (683KB)(1466)       Save
The revitalization of child-friendly communities is not only an important measure of community social work practice, but also a practical mapping of the theoretical model of community social work. The revitalization of child-friendly communities is not only different from the space-planning path advocated by the rational-based social planning model, but also different from the space-power path advocated by the regional development model that emphasizes residents’ participation, and it is also different from the space-service path advocated by the community care model that emphasizes service provision. In practice, the revitalization of child-friendly communities follows the integrated practice logic based on the community field. This integrated practice logic is oriented to the problems in the community field, upholds people-oriented values, emphasizes the participatory cooperation of multiple subjects, pays attention to rational design of children’s activity space, institutional guarantee of children’s rights, and professional supply of children’s services. This integration model needs to establish a “child-centered” value concept, to implement the methodological principle of community-based, to comprehensively use the practice strategy of pluralism.

The Influence of Self-Compassion on Compassion Fatigue among Front-Line Social Workers: The Mediation Effect of Career Self-Efficacy
XU Haoyang, ZHANG Yonghong
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 44-52.
Abstract1251)      PDF(pc) (756KB)(1220)       Save
Based on the samples of 235 front-line social workers in China, this paper explores the influence of self-compassion on compassion fatigue among front-line social workers and the mediation effect of career self-efficacy. The results show that, after controlling for age, education, years of employment, professional qualifications, monthly salary and communication frequency with supervisors, self-compassion and career self-efficacy of front-line social workers are negative predictors of compassion fatigue, and career self-efficacy played a partial mediating role between self-compassion and compassion fatigue. To help front-line social workers effectively deal with compassion fatigue and related professional mental health problems, the research suggests that first-line social workers should learn to apply self-compassion, set professional boundary and enhance professional literacy on the individual level, administrators should improve professional supervision and performance appraisal systems on the management level.

YANG Li, LI Wenbin, PAN Yanling
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 5-14.
Abstract1250)      PDF(pc) (1046KB)(1222)       Save
After ten years of exploration, the policy of children directors has been gradually extended from pilot areas to the entire country. Children directors become an important force in promoting the development of the national child welfare governance system and governance capacity. This study conducts empirical research based on the Mitt-Horn public policy implementation system model with the sample of C City. Our study finds that there are three action paths among the influencing factors of the implementation of the children directors policy: goal ambiguity type, resource constraint type and organizational defect type. The effect of the implementation of children directors policy is the result of the coupling of policy, environment and organizational elements. This ultimately affects the implementation effect at the micro level through the child director's understanding and handling of the policy. To improve the effect of children directors policy, we need to further clarify the policy objectives, increase external resources, and promote the organizational governance of children directors and strengthen their training and support.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 53-64.
Abstract1243)      PDF(pc) (869KB)(1235)       Save
The competence of community workers concerns the exploration of social governance innovation in urban grassroot society in China. Current competence studies focus on psychometrics methods for competence scale development but neglect the context of social governance innovation and individual capacity development. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with community workers in Shanghai, China, based on the “problem-solution” and “structure-action” perspectives. Cross-analysis was performed on individual cases and their personal abilities. Results from the interviews revealed a “foundation-practice-principle” framework, which may be applied to developing educational programs for community workers.

Research on the Inducement Mechanism of Social Workers’ High Turnover Intention: Configuration Analysis Based on CSWLS 2019
QIN Haibo, LI Yukun
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 34-43.
Abstract1189)      PDF(pc) (862KB)(1180)       Save
Based on the job requirement-resource model and configuration perspective, this paper takes 300 social workers in Shenzhen as research subjects in a dynamic survey of social work in China. Fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis is used to analyze the configuration of the elements of job requirements and job resources and explore the complex causal effects behind high turnover intention. The findings of the study are listed as follows. The high turnover intention of social workers shows characteristics of “multiple concurrency”, “equivalence” and “causal asymmetry”. Any single antecedent condition is not a necessary condition for high turnover intention. High turnover intention is the result of a combination of multiple working conditions. Under the influence of the psychological mechanism of negative bias, the “attrition” effect of high job requirements is stronger than the “buffer” effect of the same work resources. It is much easier to produce high turnover intention than not to. The negative impacts of high job requirements will not be buffered by any work resources. In the face of the high turnover rate of social work talents, institutions should improve working conditions with considerations of the actual situation to avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Social workers should establish correct values, take appropriate ways to release work pressure and negative emotions, and reduce or avoid excessive physical and psychological losses under the influence of negative bias.

Conflict Social Work: Connotation and Paradigm
XIONG Zheng, JIANG Song
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 5-14.
Abstract1185)      PDF(pc) (786KB)(990)       Save
With the deepening evolution of modern society and the accelerated exposure of various types of social risks, countries around the world have had to face the enormous pressure of conflict management in an era of high risk. At the new stage of development, China has seen an increase in the number of social contradictions and risk challenges, and social conflicts have become more frequent, trivial and routine, making it more difficult to prevent and control conflicts. The previous mainstream model of rigid conflict control through vertical constraints has encountered the paradoxical dilemma of high cost and low effectiveness, and there is an urgent need for innovation in conflict governance. Breaking the traditional path dependence and introducing professional social forces to intervene in social conflict governance can help increase the resilience of conflict governance. On the basis of examining the coupling between social work and conflict governance, the basic paradigm of conflict social work is constructed in two dimensions, namely, theoretical and behavioral, with Engels' theory of historical synergy as the theoretical basis, the four quadrants of conflict as the perspective of the problem, and conflict transformation as the practical direction.

JI Wenxiao, LIN Haibo
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 65-77.
Abstract1182)      PDF(pc) (979KB)(1190)       Save
Under the background of the rapid advancement of social work professionalization, the effectiveness of social work supervision has become one of the core factors affecting the quality of social work service. Taking the social work supervision model of Z City as an example, the paper constructs an analytical framework of “structure-relationship-power” on the basis of summarizing the factors limiting the effectiveness of social work supervision. It is found that the reason why the effectiveness of social work supervision is not significant is not only the restriction of external structure system, the relationship between stakeholders, but also the lack of authorization mechanism. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the guarantee system for the operation of the supervision mode, coordinate the relationship among stakeholders, and construct the power structure of multiple centers, so as to better enhance the effectiveness of social work supervision.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 87-96.
Abstract1174)      PDF(pc) (856KB)(1212)       Save
Taking 12 domestic public health emergencies as samples, based on the three-dimensional linkage analysis framework of “government media public”, this paper empirically analyzes the influencing factors of government information disclosure in public health emergencies and their complex causal logic relationships by using the qualitative comparative analysis method (QCA). The research shows that six single conditional variables, such as technical level, official cognition, communication channel, media responsibility, public sentiment, and public demand, are not enough to constitute the necessary conditions for government information disclosure in public health emergencies, which is the result of the combination of multiple conditions; Further configuration analysis found that efficient and transparent government information disclosure includes three key condition configuration paths: technology enabled, media driven and multi effect. Based on this, suggestions are put forward to optimize the government information disclosure in public health emergencies in the future from the aspects of changing the governance concept, activating the science and technology engine, and improving public opinion recognition.

Children’s Perception of the Necessities and Deprivation of Basic Living in China: Based on a Survey of Two Groups of Children in the Eastern and Western Areas
WU Xiaofang, Feng Yongzhi, XIE Panpan
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (4): 25-33.
Abstract1102)      PDF(pc) (839KB)(1273)       Save
Measuring children’s basic needs and deprivation from a multidimensional perspective is of great significance for exploring relative poverty governance and improving children’s well-being. As an exploratory study, this paper identifies the basic needs of children based on the perspective of children, and further uses the Alkire-Foster (A-F) method to measure and compare the multidimensional deficits of children in the eastern and western regions under the framework of deprivation and social exclusion. The results show that a child-centered indicator system is different from the framework preset by adults. Specifically, adults pay more attention to children’s survival needs and ignore children’s social needs. Second, regional imbalances in economic development affect children’s perception of basic living needs. Children in economically disadvantaged areas are more likely to develop a deep and long-term sense of deprivation, while children in economically developed areas perceive more social exclusion. Lastly, identifying the factors that contribute to children’s perception of deprivation and social exclusion will be a future focus for alleviating multidimensional child poverty and promoting child well-being. For economically disadvantaged areas, it is crucial to expand support for children and their families, improve children’s health and satisfy children’s needs for energy and learning resource. However, for economically developed regions, child policies need to shift towards public services and community support to reduce children’s feelings of multidimensional social exclusion.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 26-36.
Abstract1039)      PDF(pc) (832KB)(926)       Save
Making full use of the Internet to improve the physical and mental health of the elderly is a new connotation of active and healthy aging in a digital society. This paper uses data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to investigate the impact of digital society on the health status of the elderly. The empirical results show that Internet accessibility adversely affects the physical health of the elderly but improves their mental health. Internet participation improves the physical and mental health of the elderly, while the development of the digital economy improves the physical and mental health of the elderly. Moreover, digital society has a more significant impact on the health condition of elderly women. Therefore, it is recommended to adhere to the principle of “upholding one goal, focusing on three perspectives, and insisting on three main entities” to build a digital society that is healthy and friendly to the elderly, to help bridge the digital divide for the elderly, to promote the physical and mental health of the elderly, and to facilitate the achievement of the national goal of active and healthy aging.

Social Work Helps Rural Revitalization: Functional Orientation, Realistic Dilemma and Practical Strategies
ZHANG Fufu
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (6): 23-33.
Abstract985)      PDF(pc) (694KB)(850)       Save
The goal and task of the rural revitalization strategy are to effectively solve the deep-seated problems in rural society, such as lagging economic development, inefficient grassroots governance, and deterioration of the ecological environment. To aid rural revitalization, social work should take the “target and task” of rural revitalization as the “embedded point”. It should also combine its own professional characteristics and advantages, and play its role in “resource linker and policy” in rural revitalization from the macro, meso, and micro levels. This means that social workers should act as influencers, organizers and advocates, as well as service providers and supporters. It further requires rural social work to adopt a practical strategy guided by “functional orientation” with the localized practice method of “according to local conditions”, to analyze the practical dilemma based on the three dimensions of social work professional space, community resources, and institutional environment in the rural field, and to construct the relationship with the government under the idea of “integration and fusion”.

Digital Participation Rights: Right Constructs and State Obligations

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 78-87.
Abstract961)      PDF(pc) (706KB)(985)       Save
The highly digitalized social field has invariably given rise to a large number of digitally disconnected and digitally disadvantaged people, revealing the digital inequality behind the achievement of digital technology in creating a good life. To bridge the digital divide, it is necessary to recognize and prove the right to digital participation from the perspective of rights. The right to digital participation is an exclusive right of the digitally disadvantaged group, which is relative in nature. It utilizes data and information as carriers of rights and has the connotation of being physical, skill-based, and having the right to remedies, meeting the basic needs of every citizen to participate in a smart society. As a fundamental right, the right to digital participation primarily reflects the relationship between citizens and the state. It manifests as a right to participation based on equal opportunities and a right to development with substantial equity. From the perspective of the rule of law, a protection model of fundamental rights is more conducive to safeguarding citizens’ rights to digital participation. State obligations for the right to digital participation can be constructed in three dimensions: respect, protection, and provision.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 37-45.
Abstract916)      PDF(pc) (818KB)(987)       Save
In China, migrant women are facing various challenges, such as pressures in family caregiving, weak social support networks, and employment instability. Social enterprises characterized by flexible employment forms, diversified resources, and a combination of commercialization and social welfare have the potential to provide feasible support for migrant women’s employment. The case in this study shows that social enterprises can provide migrant women with assistance such as job opportunities, resource connections, and social service expansion, meeting their diverse needs for employment, professional skills, and quality of life. However, social enterprises are also facing practical challenges such as immature market operation mechanisms, the need for strengthened internal management and external support, and insufficient service evaluation. Therefore, it is suggested that social enterprises optimize the path of employment service for migrant women through various aspects, such as talent training before participation, demand research, internal and external cooperation during participation, and comprehensive evaluation after participation.

A Study on the Content of Chinese Family Policy from the Perspective of Policy Instruments: An Analysis Based on 152 Central Policy Texts from 1987-2021
ZHANG Guofang, RUAN Liyi
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 88-100.
Abstract898)      PDF(pc) (906KB)(970)       Save
The scientific assessment of the implementation characteristics and effectiveness of family policies in China is essential to improving their applicability. Using content analysis, we constructed a three-dimensional framework of “policy instruments-policy objectives-governance subjects” to analyze the family policy texts issued by the central government from 1987 to 2021. We explored the typological characteristics, evolutionary trajectories, value tendencies, and inherent shortcomings of family policy instruments in China. The findings are as follows: Firstly, in terms of policy instruments, family policies in China exhibit characteristics such as a predominance of authoritative tools and capacity-building tools, uneven use of motivational and persuasive tools, and a shortage of systemic change tools. Secondly, in terms of policy objectives, family policies focus mainly on child development, work-family balance, and assistance for special families. There was a lack of attention to elderly care and housing security, and there is a phenomenon of distinguishing between ordinary and special families. Thirdly, in terms of governance subjects, family policies are primarily government-led, neglecting social participation. The coupling of policy instruments with social organizations is relatively low. Therefore, it is suggested that, firstly, the precision of family policy tools should be improved, and the combined effect should be optimized. Secondly, the coupling between family policy instruments and governance subjects should be improved with the guidance of multi-faceted shared governance. Finally, the policy objectives should be reasonably planned to achieve family welfare growth.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2023, 23 (5): 69-77.
Abstract872)      PDF(pc) (868KB)(871)       Save
Information disclosure is the key for social organizations to gain social trust. As an important resource to sustain the survival and development of organizations, the acquisition of public interest property is accompanied by the transfer of power and obligation, and has an impact on the information disclosure of social organizations. Based on the survey data of CSWLS2019, this paper empirically examines the impact of public interest property on information disclosure of social organizations and its mechanism of action, using 731 social organizations as research samples. It is found that the public interest property can play a role in promoting information disclosure without the multi-layer accountability mechanism, and the public interest property can enhance the information disclosure level of social organizations through the chain intermediary role of council governance and internal system construction. The government is a strong principal in the public interest market, and the greater the proportion of government funds in public interest assets, the higher the degree of information disclosure of social organizations. The findings of this study have some implications for improving the accountability mechanism of public welfare property.

Abstract849)      PDF(pc) (696KB)(1006)       Save
From the perspective of value, this paper explores the path of social work intervention to resolve the dilemma of rural governance. A rural governance plight in which the interests of the farmers are unable to respond effectively, and a rural values loss, which is embodied in the struggle of multiple subjects’ self-positioning in village governance, the lack of an overall concept, and the shackles of endogenous forces. The introduction of the general process model of social work practice provides an operational scheme for optimizing rural governance. From the perspective of “value construction, value activation, value play, and value increment”, the practical path of social work involvement in rural governance is constructed, which includes “concept embedding, resource integration, comprehensive governance, and maintenance effectiveness”. The goal is to give full play to the advantages of rural resource integration and localization, stimulate endogenous organizational vitality and cohesion, and guide villagers to seek community consciousness and group goals based on the great importance of the potential of the original social structure. The effective intervention of social work and their comprehensive understanding and systematic participation in the process of rural governance have guided the return of rural values to the “rural standard”, thus helping to resolve rural neighborhood conflicts and disputes.

As practitioners in the human service industry, social workers are at high risk of occupational burnout. In order to prevent social workers from falling into occupational burnout, physical and mental health damage, and career development difficulties, this study uses a systematic evaluation method to comprehensively review existing literature on the influencing factors of social work occupational burnout. This study scientifically screens high-quality empirical work, sorts significant effective factors, and explores the mechanism of action effects. After systematic evaluation, 29 high-quality empirical with a total sample size of 15895 are included. Thematic analysis shows that the job burnout of social workers is the result of the joint effect of individual factors (demographic characteristics and psychological factors) and environmental factors (work characteristics, organizational factors, family and social factors). Based on research findings, this study constructs a theoretical model of the influencing factors of occupational burnout among social workers, verifying the universal theory of occupational burnout while expanding the theory. Finally, this study compares the empirical evidence provided in the included literature, identifying the commonalities and differences between the two, pointing out the direction for theoretical development and providing suggestions for management practice.

A sense of hope is one of the core concepts of positive psychology and is an important psychological quality for rural left-behind children to prevent psychological or behavioral problems. A low level of hope is not conducive to the healthy growth of children. The survey found that the hope level of left-behind children in Village D of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, was low. Academic achievement, parent-child relationship, interpersonal relationship, and social support network were the main influencing factors. It is urgent to improve left-behind children’s academic ability, foster their family relationships, promote their interpersonal interactions and expand their social support network, so as to enhance their sense of hope in these areas. This study uses hope therapy, guided by hope cognitive theory and rational emotive behaviour therapy, to conduct group interventions to enhance the sense of hope of left-behind children. Practice has shown that group work is effective in enhancing the sense of hope of rural left-behind children. It is recommended to strengthen parent-child communication, enhance the cultivation of positive psychological qualities in schools for left-behind children, create a positive community atmosphere for caring for left-behind children, and accelerate the construction of a social work team for caring for left-behind children.

Abstract738)      PDF(pc) (1050KB)(807)       Save
Multisubject collaboration is an effective approach for connecting urban renewal and community governance. As emerging components of community governance, social work and social design share similarities in service beneficiaries, professional concepts, and professional openness, which facilitate their cross-integration and mutual learning in the governance process. Taking the Caojiaxiang community of Chengdu as an example, this paper constructs a dual-discipline collaborative governance model of “social work and social design” from the perspectives of dynamic mechanisms, structural elements, and collaborative processes. It also summarizes the influencing factors and characteristics of the dual-discipline collaborative governance model. The two-discipline collaborative governance of “social work and social design” arises from the interaction of various structural elements driven by power and produces synergistic effects through a multi-level collaborative process of “knowledge dialogue-vision integration-system formation”. Its synergistic effect is affected by the functional capacities of other stakeholders, institutional settings, and others. The synergistic characteristics underscore the discipline-specific traits, the equal status between the two disciplines, and their respective professional advantages.

In the context of the increasing presence of social organizations in grassroots governance, there is a need to examine the impact and underlying logical mechanisms of these organizations’ involvement in urban and rural community participation. Based on a large dataset drawn from the government’s procurement of services from social organizations and their incorporation into grassroots governance in Jiangsu Province, this study explores the influence of social organizations’ participation in community governance and its moderating and mediating mechanisms on urban and rural community involvement. The research suggests that the extent of intervention by social organizations directly influences urban and rural community participation and indirectly encourages such involvement by influencing community social capital and satisfaction with community work. The intervention of social organizations enhances the existing factors (community social capital and community work satisfaction) affecting urban and rural residents' community participation, and such an effect is particularly prominent in urban communities and among local residents.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (1): 1-10.
Abstract632)      PDF(pc) (739KB)(680)       Save
In the context of community “voluntary failure”, “weak participation” of residents, and the mismatch between the supply of voluntary services and the actual dynamic demand, the innovation of the community voluntary service delivery model has become one of the topics widely concerned by the academic community. Based on the theory of co-production and on the basis of defining the connotation and logic of co-production of community voluntary service, the process mechanism is further revealed from the stages of service initiation, resource link, subject interaction, value creation, evaluation, and feedback. Community voluntary service contains rich characteristics of co-production. In the process of organizing voluntary service, we should change our concept and realize that an open cooperative system is the action framework of co-production of community voluntary service. Multi-agent collaborative production is the direction of development for co-production of community voluntary service, and “service orientation” is an important concept of co-production of community voluntary service. The community residents are not only the recipients and beneficiaries of voluntary service in the process, but also the participants and co-producers of services.

Abstract550)      PDF(pc) (887KB)(843)       Save
Policy diffusion has always been a key component of grassroots governance. How to promote and speed up policy diffusion is directly related to the governance abilities of grassroots governments. However, research shows that the diffusion of grassroots government policies is affected by administrative pressure and diffusion pressure. When the diffusion of grassroots government policies is squeezed by these two types of pressure simultaneously, it often faces choices regarding which pressure to prioritize. Through the case study of Community L, this study explores the strategic logic of the implementation of policy diffusion by the grassroots government in the squeezing diffusion context. This study found that the squeezing diffusion is mainly caused by the grassroots government’s “commitment” to the superior government and the lack of civil discourse. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the perception of pressure and the dispersion of pressure in the process of policy diffusion. To effectively promote the diffusion of grassroots government policies and finally achieve the purpose of policy implementation.

In recent years, with the introduction of the Charity Law, the relationship between charity and social work has become thefocus of academic discussion. By reviewing the previous research results, this paper systematically sorted out the feasibility of integrating charity and social work considering their shared roots of history, values, and practice. This paper also examines the necessity of such integration in terms of the concept of helping others and the systems of ethics, profession, resources, and institutions. Further to that, we explore the possible pathways of such integration in the fields of cultural foundations, theoretical models, institutions of management, and goals. However, current research lacks a theoretical framework, and there is a limited exploration of localized research topics. Therefore, this research offers insights for future study by suggesting expanding research scopes beyond disciplinary boundaries, shifting research focuses, and combining local practice with an international perspective.

Abstract509)      PDF(pc) (714KB)(663)       Save
In the practice of primary-level governance, experiences such as the organizational framework of party structure embedded in the community, the mobilization of endogenous forces in the community, and the external supply of social charity resources have been formed. However, due to factors such as the path dependence of omnipotent governance, the effectiveness of the Linkage of Five Elements has not been fully utilized. Therefore, it is urgent to promote the improvement of the primary-level governance mechanism of the Linkage of Five Elements from the aspects of government hierarchy system, social voluntary participation, community consultation platform, and residents’ subjective awareness.

Abstract491)      PDF(pc) (717KB)(585)       Save
Social policies play an important role in maintaining social stability and improving people’s well-being. According to the important historical nodes, China’s social policy can be divided into three stages: gradual development, gradual transformation and gradual integration, each of which is characterized by singularity, alternation and integration. Based on the historical institutionalism method, this research analyzes the reasons for the above characteristics of China’s social policy. It is found that the self-locking effect, the external effect and the coordination effect in the welfare provision system drive the changes of China’s social policy system respectively. The above changes are jointly influenced by interest selection, transformation of efficiency and fairness, and the internal and external institutional environment of the social policy system.

HE Zhijing, WANG Zhizhong, CHANG Biru
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (1): 61-69.
Abstract480)      PDF(pc) (725KB)(559)       Save
The social cognitive career theory suggests that individual career choices are influenced by the environment, individual, and behavior. According to the theory, self-efficacy, whose main factors are professional identity and professional competence, is the core cognitive variable along with outcome expectations and personal goals. Professional identity influences social work undergraduate students’ career choices via professional efficacy and outcome expectations, and the professional competence improvement has a positive impact on professional efficacy and ultimately impacts career choices. The decision of choosing a career in the field of social work is a result of the collective interaction of individual, professional, social, and policy factors. Among them, alignment of professional beliefs and personal values is a prerequisite for career choices. When professional beliefs, professional identity, and professional competence, either singly or in combination, align with career goals, positive mechanisms of career choices take precedence over the influence of environmental factors. Otherwise, the students may choose to abandon a career in social work.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (1): 28-35.
Abstract478)      PDF(pc) (661KB)(573)       Save
Through practice, the assets-based community development model has become a widely accepted practice model of community development. Based on existing theories and practice achievements, there are four approaches to understand the asset-based community development model: asset-building approaches, rights-based approaches, community driven development approaches and community strengths approaches. Different theoretical and practical approaches result in different community development ideas and directions. In the era of post-poverty alleviation and the current era of rural revitalization, the asset-based community development model gives us at least four important inspirations. First of all, the perspective of looking at rural areas and poor farmers should change from a problem-orientated to a strength perspective. Secondly, we should cultivate the subjectivity of rural and poor people; Thirdly, strengthen the construction of a positive support network within and between communities. Fourthly, try to explore the innovative application of financial methods in anti-poverty.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (1): 45-52.
Abstract471)      PDF(pc) (602KB)(480)       Save
Public trust is the support for the operation of charities. A series of trust repair measures should be taken to achieve the public trust repair after trust violation. Charities have a variety of specific trust repair strategies under trust violation and can also establish different types of trust repair strategy combinations. However, the impacts of trust repair strategies on repair results are mainly produced indirectly through public psychological factors such as attribution mechanism, emotional responses, public perception, etc. At the same time, the impacts of trust repair strategies on repair results may be different due to different situational factors, such as charities’ characteristics, Chinese traditional culture and institutional environment, and public individuals’ characteristics. Therefore, charities under trust violation should formulate better trust repair strategies to promote public trust repair, and should pay more attention to the impacts of strategies on public psychology and improve the pertinence of strategies to different situations to improve the effects of trust repair.

SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (1): 53-60.
Abstract461)      PDF(pc) (627KB)(550)       Save
School social work is one of the important practice areas of social work, and the less developed areas in the west of China are actively promoting social work to enter the school field, so how to give full play to the professional power of school social work is a topic of concern. Observing the professional practice of L-schools in Yunnan Province and adopting the social work systemic perspective, we analyze the practice dilemmas of changing the media system, the service object system, the target system, and the action system faced by school social work. Further to that, we explore the breakthrough strategies in social work professional practice. The study found that the development of school social work in the western less-developed regions faces greater challenges due to factors such as the scarcity of social work talents, the low awareness of social work, the limited environmental conditions for social work development, and the big difference in philosophies between social work and schools. Based on this, we adopt the approach of enhancing the capacity of the above four basic social work systems to break through the dilemmas by emphasizing the cultivation of local talents, raising the awareness of social work, improving the development environment of social work, and importing the value concepts of social work, so as to promote the landing and development of school social work in the western less-developed regions.

Role Consensus and Role Practice of Cross-Professional Cooperation in Medical Social Work
ZHAO Fang, KONG Chunyan, HE Longtao
SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT    2024, 24 (2): 32-42.
Abstract182)      PDF(pc) (737KB)(203)       Save
With the restoration and development of medical social work in mainland China, stakeholders including healthcare professionals, patients, and their families have developed certain shared expectations regarding the roles of medical social workers, which facilitated the foundation for cross-professional collaboration. However, medical social workers continue to encounter challenges within interdisciplinary teams, mainly due to a lack of consensus on their roles, along with a lack of external support and intrinsic professional development in role practices. The present study consists of a questionnaire survey in Shanghai, Hubei and Guangdong in 2023 (the first step) and an analysis of annual reports of six hospitals in a city in 2022 (the second step). It is found that the practice development of cross-professional collaboration in medical social work requires overcoming both extrinsic obstacles and intrinsic deficiencies. The professional development of medical social work itself is regarded as the cornerstone of cross-professional collaboration, and the endogenous path to break through the bottleneck involves the production of institutionalized knowledge and the independent development of clinical technology.
