    PENG Xiaobing, WANG Ruohan
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 5-13.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (696KB) ( 1069 )
From the perspective of value, this paper explores the path of social work intervention to resolve the dilemma of rural governance. A rural governance plight in which the interests of the farmers are unable to respond effectively, and a rural values loss, which is embodied in the struggle of multiple subjects’ self-positioning in village governance, the lack of an overall concept, and the shackles of endogenous forces. The introduction of the general process model of social work practice provides an operational scheme for optimizing rural governance. From the perspective of “value construction, value activation, value play, and value increment”, the practical path of social work involvement in rural governance is constructed, which includes “concept embedding, resource integration, comprehensive governance, and maintenance effectiveness”. The goal is to give full play to the advantages of rural resource integration and localization, stimulate endogenous organizational vitality and cohesion, and guide villagers to seek community consciousness and group goals based on the great importance of the potential of the original social structure. The effective intervention of social work and their comprehensive understanding and systematic participation in the process of rural governance have guided the return of rural values to the “rural standard”, thus helping to resolve rural neighborhood conflicts and disputes.

Social Work Helps Rural Revitalization: Functional Orientation, Realistic Dilemma and Practical Strategies
    ZHANG Fufu
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 23-33.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (694KB) ( 1012 )
The goal and task of the rural revitalization strategy are to effectively solve the deep-seated problems in rural society, such as lagging economic development, inefficient grassroots governance, and deterioration of the ecological environment. To aid rural revitalization, social work should take the “target and task” of rural revitalization as the “embedded point”. It should also combine its own professional characteristics and advantages, and play its role in “resource linker and policy” in rural revitalization from the macro, meso, and micro levels. This means that social workers should act as influencers, organizers and advocates, as well as service providers and supporters. It further requires rural social work to adopt a practical strategy guided by “functional orientation” with the localized practice method of “according to local conditions”, to analyze the practical dilemma based on the three dimensions of social work professional space, community resources, and institutional environment in the rural field, and to construct the relationship with the government under the idea of “integration and fusion”.

MENG Yi, HU Yang, MA Huanhuan
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 34-45.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (705KB) ( 933 )
As practitioners in the human service industry, social workers are at high risk of occupational burnout. In order to prevent social workers from falling into occupational burnout, physical and mental health damage, and career development difficulties, this study uses a systematic evaluation method to comprehensively review existing literature on the influencing factors of social work occupational burnout. This study scientifically screens high-quality empirical work, sorts significant effective factors, and explores the mechanism of action effects. After systematic evaluation, 29 high-quality empirical with a total sample size of 15895 are included. Thematic analysis shows that the job burnout of social workers is the result of the joint effect of individual factors (demographic characteristics and psychological factors) and environmental factors (work characteristics, organizational factors, family and social factors). Based on research findings, this study constructs a theoretical model of the influencing factors of occupational burnout among social workers, verifying the universal theory of occupational burnout while expanding the theory. Finally, this study compares the empirical evidence provided in the included literature, identifying the commonalities and differences between the two, pointing out the direction for theoretical development and providing suggestions for management practice.

    WU Jiahui, MIAO Chunfeng
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 46-58.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (884KB) ( 1019 )
A sense of hope is one of the core concepts of positive psychology and is an important psychological quality for rural left-behind children to prevent psychological or behavioral problems. A low level of hope is not conducive to the healthy growth of children. The survey found that the hope level of left-behind children in Village D of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, was low. Academic achievement, parent-child relationship, interpersonal relationship, and social support network were the main influencing factors. It is urgent to improve left-behind children’s academic ability, foster their family relationships, promote their interpersonal interactions and expand their social support network, so as to enhance their sense of hope in these areas. This study uses hope therapy, guided by hope cognitive theory and rational emotive behaviour therapy, to conduct group interventions to enhance the sense of hope of left-behind children. Practice has shown that group work is effective in enhancing the sense of hope of rural left-behind children. It is recommended to strengthen parent-child communication, enhance the cultivation of positive psychological qualities in schools for left-behind children, create a positive community atmosphere for caring for left-behind children, and accelerate the construction of a social work team for caring for left-behind children.

Discussion on the Collaborative Governance Model of “Social Work and Social Design”: Taking Caojiaxiang Community in Chengdu as an Example
    CHENG Ling, LAI Yanqiong
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 66-74,84.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (1050KB) ( 877 )
Multisubject collaboration is an effective approach for connecting urban renewal and community governance. As emerging components of community governance, social work and social design share similarities in service beneficiaries, professional concepts, and professional openness, which facilitate their cross-integration and mutual learning in the governance process. Taking the Caojiaxiang community of Chengdu as an example, this paper constructs a dual-discipline collaborative governance model of “social work and social design” from the perspectives of dynamic mechanisms, structural elements, and collaborative processes. It also summarizes the influencing factors and characteristics of the dual-discipline collaborative governance model. The two-discipline collaborative governance of “social work and social design” arises from the interaction of various structural elements driven by power and produces synergistic effects through a multi-level collaborative process of “knowledge dialogue-vision integration-system formation”. Its synergistic effect is affected by the functional capacities of other stakeholders, institutional settings, and others. The synergistic characteristics underscore the discipline-specific traits, the equal status between the two disciplines, and their respective professional advantages.

    ZHAO Di, ZHANG Zhipeng
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 75-84.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (694KB) ( 818 )
In the context of the increasing presence of social organizations in grassroots governance, there is a need to examine the impact and underlying logical mechanisms of these organizations’ involvement in urban and rural community participation. Based on a large dataset drawn from the government’s procurement of services from social organizations and their incorporation into grassroots governance in Jiangsu Province, this study explores the influence of social organizations’ participation in community governance and its moderating and mediating mechanisms on urban and rural community involvement. The research suggests that the extent of intervention by social organizations directly influences urban and rural community participation and indirectly encourages such involvement by influencing community social capital and satisfaction with community work. The intervention of social organizations enhances the existing factors (community social capital and community work satisfaction) affecting urban and rural residents' community participation, and such an effect is particularly prominent in urban communities and among local residents.

Squeeze Diffusion: The New Logic of Policy Diffusion Implementation of Grassroots Government: Based on the Analysis of the Implementation Process of Garbage Sorting and Recycling Policies in Community L
    SHEN Yang, CHENG Jihong
    SOCIAL WORK AND MANAGEMENT, 2023, 23 (6): 85-96.
    Abstract    HTML ( ) PDF (887KB) ( 932 )
Policy diffusion has always been a key component of grassroots governance. How to promote and speed up policy diffusion is directly related to the governance abilities of grassroots governments. However, research shows that the diffusion of grassroots government policies is affected by administrative pressure and diffusion pressure. When the diffusion of grassroots government policies is squeezed by these two types of pressure simultaneously, it often faces choices regarding which pressure to prioritize. Through the case study of Community L, this study explores the strategic logic of the implementation of policy diffusion by the grassroots government in the squeezing diffusion context. This study found that the squeezing diffusion is mainly caused by the grassroots government’s “commitment” to the superior government and the lack of civil discourse. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the perception of pressure and the dispersion of pressure in the process of policy diffusion. To effectively promote the diffusion of grassroots government policies and finally achieve the purpose of policy implementation.
